What juice can a breastfeeding mother drink?

From the very early days of breastfeeding, you can safely drink apple juice. Alternatively, you may also drink simple apple compote. 

Apart from apple juice, breastfeeding mom can also drink juice such as: blackcurrant juice , carrot juice or pear juice. 

After 3-4 weeks of breastfeeding, you may try other fruit, but the advice is to try it gradually, meaning little amount of one new fruit. In this way, you can try eg. banana juice after a month of breastfeeding but remember to drink small amount and then check what your baby reaction is. If your baby is not agitated or gassy it means that you can drink this particular kind of juice. 

Orange juice for breastfeeding mother is a controversial topic. Some people believe that orange juice may ( but need not ) give allergic reaction - similarly to all citrus fruits . Therefore, at the beginning, I would advise to refrain from orange juice. However, if no one in your family was ever allergic to oranges or orange juice , you can try it after 6-8 weeks - at the beginning in small amounts, for example, half a glass . If your baby does not react badly , it means that you can start normally drink orange juice.
